Alexis arrives late for her skydiving date with Gregory, and the pilot notes they are losing daylight and time is ticking. She apologizes, and as they get suited up, Alexis’ nerves begin to kick in and she rambles on and on. When Alexis meets the instructor she’s jumping with, who has that California beach-surfer himbo vibe, she tells Gregory that she just can’t!

Alexis explains it’s not just the jump that has her worried, she’s worried about her girls. She tells Gregory that Sam will be okay if she dies, but Molly and Kristina need her. Gregory says they are adults, and at some point, they need to let them live on their own. He has to believe his kids will grow, thrive, and learn from their mistakes, which gives him courage. Alexis yells at the instructors let’s do this, as she’s ready to jump out of this damn plane.

Alexis makes it back to earth, and she admits to herself and her instructor Falcon that it was thrilling. When she sees Gregory, she hugs him and says she loved every second of that. The perspective of looking down on the world was probably the most transformative moment of her life. Suddenly, Gregory pulls her into a kiss, and she kisses him back.

Spencer arrives at Joss and Trina’s room to pick up Trina for their New Year’s date. He finds a letter to her from the Sorbonne, which she says he wasn’t supposed to see. She applied to this art program abroad and got accepted, but she can’t go. She says classes are about to start, there is Curtis’ treatment, and she’ll miss him. He says she can’t miss this opportunity, and she has to go.

Spencer gushes about Paris, and how close it is to other great European cities. Trina suggests he could come with her, though quickly thinks that would be impossible for him what with Ace, but he says he can easily fly back on weekends to see him. He says, “When the woman you love invites you to Paris, you say yes!”

They make love, and after Trina says they should really think about this Paris thing. Spencer doesn’t need time to think about it, he wants to be in Paris with her. He then says if they hurry, they can make it to the pier for the fireworks.

Esme visits Heather in Pentonville, and Heather says she knew her daughter would be back. Heather senses something different about Esme and asks how Ace’s first Christmas was. Esme says he spent it with Spencer and Trina. Heather says that look on her face when she said Trina’s name was not remorse but contempt, and she realizes she remembers. Shocked, Esme asks how she can tell. Heather explains she studied her since Spring Ridge, she knows her face and her mannerisms. She used to be so lost, but now she sees a purpose in her eyes. Heather is happy to meet the real Esme.

Esme is glad to have someone to talk to about this. She cries it’s like she’s two different people, and she doesn’t know how she can be both. Heather assures her that everything will be okay because she’s come to see her mother. Heather asks if anyone else knows about her memory, and she says nobody does. Heather tells her to keep it that way. Esme doesn’t know how to pretend she doesn’t remember, and she can’t pretend to be horrified by what the old Esme did because she thinks everything she did was justified. She also says keeping silent means she remains a single mom, Alexis’ drudge, and can’t do anything about Trina and Spencer’s sickening love.

Heather explains that Esme has the upper hand now, and for Ace’s sake, keep her mouth shut. Heather suggests she put herself out there, and meet someone worthy of her. Heather also asks her to visit her again, as she will help keep her head on straight. Esme takes Heather’s hands, and Heather says it was a pleasure to finally meet her daughter.

Sonny finds Nina at the Crimson office and reminds her the party is about to start. Nina just has to get the end-of-the-year bonuses mailed out. She promises she will be with him well before midnight, and she’s not going to miss their first New Year’s Eve as husband and wife. Sonny says to meet her at The Savoy later, for the first of many New Year’s celebrations.

Cyrus arrives, and Nina explains she’s very busy tonight, so he says he’ll leave her to her work. However, remember, she doesn’t walk alone. Nina recalls those words and realizes it was Cyrus in the confessional, and he asks if she has set herself free yet. Nina calls him a hypocrite and dishonest, she thought she was talking to a man of God. He says she is, so how can he help her?

Nina asks Cyrus what he wants. He wants her to confess to those she hurt. She says that will do more harm than good, as the family is finally coming together. Cyrus preaches that she sent a good man to prison, and she was trying to separate a mother from her children. Nina tells Cyrus to stuff it, that he’s a criminal and blackmailer, so what does he want? What will he do with this information? Cyrus says nothing, he just wants her redemption.

Nina lashes out that Carly and Drew aren’t the only injured parties, she almost lost the only daughter she has left, and one she didn’t know she had thanks to Carly. Cyrus says her lies are already unraveling, but Nina doesn’t get why he gives a damn about her. Cyrus explains he was once like her, and he wants to see her be a better person. He says the truth can undo so much hurt, and to think of the clarity she can give to Carly, Drew and Sonny. Just then Sonny calls Nina, and she cries.

Carly meets Michael at The Savoy. Sam and Dante can’t make it as Scout has the flu, and Willow is stuck working overtime at GH because of sick staff calling out due to this flu. Drew’s trip to Australia got extended, which is why he’s also missing in action. Carly says it’s just the two of them tonight.

Ned, Lois and Olivia arrive, and when Ned runs into Carly, she snaps at him for turning her and Drew into the SEC. She asks how she should return that favor. She yells Drew was nearly beaten to death in prison, and that is on him. She thinks it’s time for the FTC to pay ELQ a visit. Ned refuses to take this any longer and says he’ll tell her exactly why Drew was sent to Pentonville!

At Lois and Olivia’s table, Lois warns Olivia that she has trouble and points to Ned and Carly arguing.

Michael intervenes between Carly and Ned, and asks Ned why he got involved in this mess, and what he got out of it? Ned recalls Michael’s bribe for keeping quiet, and claims he was just looking out for the little guy as a concerned citizen. Sonny arrives and tells Ned he’s caused enough damage. Ned says that’s rich given the devastation he’s left in his wake. Michael says he’ll handle this and pulls Ned aside.

Back at their table, Lois sees Sonny is now involved in the arguing, and she hates seeing Ned get called out for something he didn’t do. Worse yet, Lois asks if another Quartermaine Corinthos feud is better than the truth coming out.

In a corner, Ned tells Michael that he doesn’t want to talk about this. Sonny interrupts to say this isn’t over and walks off. Michael reminds Ned that they had an agreement. He warns Ned he won’t hesitate to out Nina at this point, and take back his voting proxy, but Ned thinks Michael is bluffing.

Meanwhile, Lois sees Ned and Michael talking and wonders what is going on between them. Olivia says they are likely talking about ELQ, as Michael gave him his vote proxy. Lois wonders why he’d do that, and realizes it was to keep Ned quiet. Lois asks if Michael turned his own mother into the SEC? Olivia says Michael didn’t do it, and to let it go. Lois can’t and says the whole situation stinks to high heaven. Lois is sure the answer is in front of her face. She thinks Ned has something on Michael, and Michael is paying Ned to keep quiet.

Carly decides to head out and tells Sonny to wish Michael a happy New Year, and takes off.

Sonny talks with Lois and Olivia, and Olivia asks about Nina. He says she’s coming, and heads to the bar. Lois finally realizes Drew was never the target in all of this, Carly was, and Nina is the one who tipped off the SEC. Olivia begs her not to tell anyone, but Lois doesn’t get why she or Ned haven’t told Sonny. Olivia says it would only cause more hurt, and everyone is happy for once. Ned interrupts and suggests they head to the docks for the fireworks. Lois says she’ll meet them there, she has to powder her nose.

Sonny invites Lois to walk with him to the docks, but she says he is going to miss the fireworks this year. She tells Sonny he has a right to know what is going on, and his entire family is lying to him.

Carly returns home and is surprised by Drew. She jumps into his arms. As the fireworks go off, they head to bed to make love.

Trina, Spencer and others gather at the docks. Esme sees them together and clenches her first.

In Nina’s office, as the fireworks go off, Nina prayed Sonny would never know the truth, but if anyone tells Sonny, it should be her. Cyrus says that is all he wanted to hear and has faith that she does the right thing. Until then, he won’t be far.

On the next General Hospital: Carly and Drew celebrate the New Year together. On the pier, Olivia tells Ned and Michael, “We have to get back there!” Brook Lynn tells Chase, “It’s better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. ” Dante says, “How do you think Drew will react?” Willow visits Nina and asks her to help her out. Lois tells Sonny that she knows who turned Carly and Drew into the SEC.
